Melnikov Sergiy Avraamiyevich (1865), Chernyaevka
probably great-great-grandfather — father of Ivan Sergeyevich
Birth: 1865-09-19 · village of Chernyaevka, Bogoroditsk uyezd, Tula Governorate
Born on 19 September 1865 in Chernyaevka and baptised the next day; his parents were the peasants Avraamiy Fedotov and Natalia Yemelyanova (S308). The register gives no surnames.
Why only «probably». Of all the boys named Sergiy in Chernyaevka in 1863–1870, he is the only one whose father bears a name from the Melnikov family. There is no direct document that Ivan Sergeyevich (1895) is his son: the Chernyaevka books for 1891–1899 have not survived on FamilySearch (lead L96).
