Fetisov Vasily Timofeevich (1858)
brother of Igor’s great-great-grandfather Prokhor Timofeevich (uncle of great-grandmother Aleksandra)
Birth: 1858-04-21 · village of Lidinka (Chernyaevka parish)
Name variants: Fitisov Vasily Timofeevich
A peasant of the village of Lidinka, a former serf of Count Bobrinsky. In the household census of autumn 1911 — head of household no. 56, aged 55; living with him were his younger brother, the brother’s wife and five children — by their ages, the family of Prokhor Timofeevich (S127).
The 1911 household card records his occupation as “Serv. of Grand Duke Kons. Kons.” — probably a servant of Grand Duke Konstantin Konstantinovich. This reading was checked again in the Tula archive viewer on 5 October 2026; the earlier preliminary reading was “Nikol…”. He worked in Petersburg throughout the year and had been in this occupation for eight years, approximately since 1903. He sent 60 roubles home — a remittance amount, rather than a stated salary. His wife, aged 54, “lives with her husband”, also in Petersburg; her own occupation is not specified (S127).
Her uncle may have helped his niece Aleksandra reach Petersburg. According to the family account, as a child she served “Petersburg landowners” (S347). No hiring or passport documents have been found; whether she served in the same household as Vasily is unknown. The 1911 card alone does not establish when her service began.
Born on 21 April 1858 in Lidinka, baptised on 22 April; parents — the peasants Timofei Antonov and Pelagia Lavrentieva (S396). The 1858 revision was taken on 4 March, a month and a half before his birth, which is why he is not in the revision list (S313). His wife’s name is unknown.
The records of this grand-ducal household are held in RGIA, fond 538, inventory 1: after Konstantin Konstantinovich died in 1915, the office was named after his widow, Elizaveta Mavrikievna. A general staff list for three palaces (file 921), payroll lists for 1905 and 1908 (768, 773), maintenance payment lists for 1911–1912 (568), and correspondence about Marble Palace staff (862, 866) have been located. These are research leads: the contents have not yet been checked for Fetisov, and Vasily’s position and his wife’s name remain unknown (S400).
