Замятин Григорий Петрович
brother of wife's great-great-grandfather Pyotr Petrovich Zamyatin senior
Titular councillor; in January 1910 in Vladikavkaz — godfather of Igor, son of Pyotr Petrovich and Vera Alexandrovna Zamyatin (S366). Probably the same “Zamyatin Grigory Petrovich, without rank, clerk”, whose 1899 service record is held in the Kuban archive (S506); his 1911 service record is in RGVIA, a request was sent on 07.10.2026 (lead L111). A brother of Pyotr Petrovich — by patronymic and godparenthood; there is no direct document.
In the directory “All Russia” for 1897, “Zamyatin, Grig. Pet.”, without a rank, is the clerk of the 1st Caucasian Regiment of the Kuban Cossack Host, headquartered in Merv (S605). This agrees with the 1899 Kuban service record (S506).
In March 1908 “titular councillor, clerk for the economic section of the 1st Taman General Bezkrovny regiment of the Kuban Cossack host Grigory Zamyatin” was awarded the Order of St Stanislaus 3rd class “for excellent and zealous service and labours during military operations” (newspaper “Kavkaz”, S652). The rank matches the godfather of 1910, the service matches the Kuban clerk of 1897–1899 (S605, S506).
The brotherhood is confirmed: on his 1902 portrait Pyotr Petrovich wrote «To brother Grisha from Petya. Elisavetpol. 4 December 1902» (S658).
In 1889 — “senior medical orderly of the army reserve”: from March 1889 he was acting oral interpreter of the Merv district administration in the Transcaspian region, and in March 1890 he was dismissed at his own request (S742). So he had served as a military medical orderly and knew the local language; judging by these dates he was older than his brothers — probably born in the early 1860s.
In March 1900 he served as clerk of the 1st Taman Regiment and was godfather to Lydia, daughter of podyesaul Fyodor Alekseyevich and Maria Ivanovna. She was born on 14 March and baptized on 21 March, Julian calendar. The godfather’s full name is recorded: “Grigory Petrovich Zamyatin”. The regiment was based in Koshi near Ashgabat (S755).
