Kotlyarevskaya Gelena (~1839)

per family inscriptions — wife of wife's 3×great-grandfather Magomed-Alexander Kubekov

Birth: ABT 1839

Name variants: Kubekova Gelena; Kotlyarevskaya-Kubekova Gelena; Kotlyarevskaya Elena

Wife of Prince Magomed-Alexander Kubekov. Two family inscriptions speak of her, both made decades later by Vera Alexandrovna Kubekova's granddaughter: on the back of Kubekov's portrait — «Married Gelena Kotlyarevskaya» (S660), and on the back of the portrait of Pyotr Petrovich Zamyatin junior — he «was born in Kiev, in the house of his grandmother — Kotlyarevskaya-Kubekova Gelena» (S668). Gelena is the Polish and West Russian form of the name Elena; so the inscription was read in family correspondence (15.10.2026), earlier we read «Elena» and «Gayane». There are no documents about her yet.

If the second inscription is right, in 1907 she was alive and living in Kiev and was the grandmother of Vera's son, that is, Vera's mother. But according to documents Kubekov's wife was Lyubov Ivanovna Degterevskaya, mother of at least his son Alexander (1888), and the house at 6 Laboratornaya was registered to her in 1906–1916. How to reconcile this is not yet clear: perhaps Gelena was his first wife and Vera's mother (Vera was born around 1881), perhaps the family remembered the same Lyubov Ivanovna under this name. So no children are linked to her yet (lead L152).
