Son of Matvei Vasilyevich Kalugaryan and Maria Dmitrievna, born on 3 January 1893 in Capaclia-Rezeș (S705). He was previously thought to be the probable father of Grigory Georgievich, but in 1910 another Georgy — Stefanovich — married in Capaclia (S719), and he fits better; there is no marriage of Georgy Matveevich in Capaclia before 1910.
