The registers of the church of Leca, to which Porumbești was attached, contain “Ioann Nikolaev Pleș, settler of the village of Porumbești”: in 1888 a daughter, Ekaterina, was baptised to him and his wife Elena Georgievna (S708), and on 21 February 1891, already a widower, he married “in his second marriage”, aged 30, the widow Ioanna Nikolaevna of Gotești(?) (S709). The age disagrees with the 1850 revision (there Ioann Nikolaevich is 7, i.e. born around 1843, while the 1891 marriage implies around 1861): these may be two different Ioann Nikolaeviches. There is no son Ioann in the Leca registers of 1888–1892 and 1900; the search continues.
On 21 May 1890 his wife Elena died of consumption, aged 24 (S726): hence the “second marriage” in 1891. Judging by her age (born about 1866), the Ioann of these records is more likely the younger man born about 1861, not the Ioann Nikolaevich of the 1850 revision. In the same register, on 14 April 1890, “the settler of the village of Porumbești Nikolai Petrov Pleș”, aged 75, died: possibly his father or grandfather, but the link is not established.
Two Ioann Nikolaevich Pleșes lived in Porumbești at the same time: the elder died on 9 January 1901 aged 65 (S730), while this younger one was a 30-year-old widower in 1891. The 1888, 1890 and 1891 records, previously attributed to the elder, were moved here on 18 October 2026.
