Born on 22 September 1886 in Chernyaevka and baptised the next day; her parents were the peasant proprietors Sergiy Abramov Melnikov and Nadezhda Yakovleva. Her godparents were Alexiy Dmitriev Sankin, a neighbour in the village, and the maiden Paraskeva Pavlova (S756). She is the eldest known child of Sergiy and Nadezhda: Matfey was born in 1888 and Vera in 1890. What became of her is not yet known.
