Grigory Yakovlevich Melnikov (1867), Chernyaevka

brother of great-great-grandmother Nadezhda Yakovlevna

Birth: 1867-01-20 · village of Chernyaevka, Bogoroditsk uyezd

Born on 20 January 1867 in Chernyaevka to the peasant Yakov Evdokimov and Ekaterina Gavrilova — the same parents as Nadezhda of 1864 (S765, S763); his godfather, Alexander Artemyev, had also baptised his elder sister Tatiana. A peasant-proprietor of Chernyaevka. He married on 7 January 1885, aged eighteen, Evdokia Semyonova of the same village; his witness was Pavel Mikhailov Pushkin, who two years earlier had stood witness for Nadezhda Yakovleva at her wedding to Sergiy Melnikov (S764, S759). Children: Sergiy, 1889, baptised by Nadezhda Yakovleva (S757). He himself stood godfather to Ivan, son of Sergiy and Nadezhda, in 1895 (S529), and his wife Evdokia to Matfey and Vera (S327). In the registers of 1885–1912 he is recorded as Melnikov, so his father Yakov Evdokimov probably bore that surname too.
