On her husband’s award sheet (1945) she is listed as “Maria Ivanovna Kalugaryan” - addressee at home address.
According to Ekaterina Grigorievna (daughter), her mother’s surname was pronounced “Pleshu” (Romanian: Pleșu - a common form of the same surname with the final -u). In the birth certificates (duplicate 2008) and marriage, “Pleș” is written. Search the archives for both forms.
She died on July 27, 2013 - according to the tombstone ( S177 ), where she is named “Maria Ion”, that is, Maria Ivanovna. The existing certificat de deces refers to Gregory, not Mary.
She was buried in Kapaklia, together with her husband - a common gravestone S177 (confirmed by Igor 09/29/2026).
