An old village on the Upyorta river, 8 km west of Bogoroditsk. In the mid-18th century Matvei Semyonov, the earliest known ancestor of the Melnikovs, lived here; from Ievlevo his descendants moved to the settlement of Arkhangelskoye, the future Chernyaevka.

Ievlevo is mentioned as early as 1571: after burning Moscow, the Crimean khan Devlet Giray camped at the Kamenny ford on the Upyorta. The village belonged to the crown and was the centre of the Ievlevo volost; the revisions of 1720 and 1745 survive in RGADA (fond 350) and have been transcribed on the Petrov family site (S307).

The 1745 revision lists the children of the late Matvei Semyonov — Mikhaila (17), Nikita (16) and Pyotr (3), and his grandson Mark, son of the late Grigory (S307). The same revision lists the Rogovs, Yadykins, Pushkins and Surnechevs — families into which the Melnikovs later married.

Between 1745 and 1763 some Ievlevo peasants settled in an offshoot, Arkhangelskoye — the future Chernyaevka. In 1792, when a stone church was built in Ievlevo, the old wooden church was moved there. In 1796 the whole volost passed to Count Alexey Grigoryevich Bobrinsky.
